About Lakes Interactive

We are a small agency focused on websites and apps that are easy to use and maintain.

We build websites and applications that people can use, update, and keep working with. Good-looking pages matter. So does what happens when someone needs to change them a year from now.

Based in Minneapolis

Built in the City of Lakes.

Founded in 2008 under our former name, AWS Media, Lakes Interactive has been based in Downtown Minneapolis since 2014—just across from the and Walker Art Center. All of our design and development work is performed in Minnesota.

We're a small studio, so you work with the people doing the work. We build with Drupal, WordPress, Shopify, and custom code, depending on what the project needs.

We like straightforward conversations, work we can stand behind, and relationships that last beyond launch.

A few milestones

Growing with the web since 2008.

We started in a home office and eventually made our way downtown. A lot has changed about building websites since then. We still want the same things: useful sites, clean code, and content management that doesn't make everyday updates a chore.

It all started with remote work

Isn’t it ironic? Our story begins in a home office. Powered by a mac, one ginormous CRT monitor, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and an eagerness to design and build beautiful HTML websites.
